Swinging their way through the golf season the boys and girls golf teams have been competing at tournaments since the beginning of the school year.
“My teammates and i have been doing pretty good this season,” Senior Meagan Pistone said. “The girls won state preview last weekend in Georgetown. We have a few more tournaments before we start preparing for the spring.”
The boys and girls competed at a tournament at Bentwater. The boys were led by Eyan Edsall in stroke play, shooting 73-78 and placing fourth overall. The ladies were led by Ellie Hadley in stroke play by shooting a 79-82 and placing fourth overall.
“I think golf is a really underrated sport,” Senior Payne Coffey said. “we work really hard and do really great. We deserve more support.”
On Monday Payne Coffey and James Gardner tied for first and led the gold team for a second-place finish at Cypresswood. The team shot 323 which placed the team right behind Tomball Memorial.
“The team has been doing a lot better compared to last year,” Pistone said. “we lost one senior last year, but we gained Eryn Garza who moved from Oak Ridge to play for us. We have a solid top five team this year.”
Meagan Pistone is verbally committed to Dallas Baptist University.
“People should come out and support golf because when we have spectators watching us it applies pressure which pushes us to play our very best,” Pistone said. “We love to hear people cheering when we do something good.
